Jane Watson has studied, played and taught violin since the age of eight. Her musical studies include 8 years of violin study through the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and The Ohio State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree; and 12 years of private study with such teachers as Robert Billups, Virginia Christensen, Ronald Konieczka and Robert Culver. In addition, Jane has performed with many orchestras and ensembles in the Central and Southern Ohio area and currently does freelance performing work in Columbus and the surrounding area. She also can be seen playing out with the CMA Jazz Ensembles and directing the New Horizons Music Program & Buckeye Band & String Program for homeschooled students.
Jane’s second love is teaching adults. Her philosophy is that anyone can learn to play an instrument proficiently at any age with proper instruction, practice and a strong desire to do so. Many of Jane’s adult students achieve performance level abilities and can be seen playing around town at weddings, gallery hops, festivals and community orchestras.
